About AudioTrim

AudioTrim is a free online audio editor that runs entirely in your web browser. You can cut and trim MP3s, merge files, record from your microphone, add fades, normalize and adjust volume, change speed with the pitch preserved, reverse audio, and convert between stereo and mono — then download the result as MP3 or WAV. There's no software to install and no account to create.

Why we built it

Most "online" audio tools make you upload your files to a server, wait while they process, and trust a stranger's computer with your audio. That always felt backwards to us. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do this work locally, so AudioTrim does exactly that: your files never leave your device, edits apply instantly, and there are no upload limits because there are no uploads. It's the convenience of a web tool with the privacy of desktop software.

What you can do with it

AudioTrim covers the everyday audio jobs people actually need. You can keep just the part of a track you want, delete a mistake from the middle of a recording, join several clips into one continuous file, smooth out rough starts and endings with fades, even out an inconsistent recording with Normalize, and re-time audio without the chipmunk effect. It reads MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG and FLAC, and exports MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps, or lossless WAV.

If you're not sure where to start, our step-by-step guides walk through the most common tasks — making a ringtone, trimming a recording, adding fades, merging files, recording your voice and changing speed.

Privacy by design

Because everything happens in your browser, your audio is never transmitted, stored, or seen by us. We don't have a copy of your files, and we couldn't retrieve one if we wanted to. The only data involved is the standard, anonymous usage and advertising information described in our Privacy Policy. If you'd like to confirm the no-upload claim yourself, open your browser's network tab while editing — you'll see no audio data leaving your device.

Who it's for

AudioTrim is built for people who need a quick, no-friction edit: someone making a ringtone from a favorite song, a podcaster tightening up an episode, a teacher clipping a lecture, a musician slowing down a passage to learn it, or anyone who just wants to cut a voice memo down to the good part. No prior audio-editing experience is assumed.

The technology

AudioTrim is built on the Web Audio API, the audio engine that ships in every modern browser. Decoding, waveform rendering, editing, and MP3/WAV encoding all happen on your machine using your browser's own capabilities. That local-first approach is what makes the tool both fast and private — there's no round trip to a server for any step of the process.

How it's free

AudioTrim is supported by advertising. The ads keep the lights on; the editor itself has no premium tier, no watermarks, and no locked features. Everything the tool can do is available to everyone, at no cost.
