How to cut a song online
Cutting a song means keeping the part you want — a chorus, a verse, a sample — or removing a part you don't, like a long intro or an outro. You can do both in your browser in under a minute, and since the editing happens on your device, the song is never uploaded anywhere.
This uses the free AudioTrim editor. The same steps work for any MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG file.
Keep a part vs. remove a part
Two tools do the work, and the trick is knowing which fits your goal:
- Trim keeps only the highlighted section and discards the rest — use it to grab a chorus or a clip.
- Cut removes the highlighted section and joins what's left — use it to delete an intro, an outro, or a section from the middle.
Step by step
- Open the song. Drag your file onto audiotrim.app. It appears as a waveform right away.
- Find the section. Press Play and listen for where the part you want starts and ends. Zoom in (🔍) for precise placement.
- Select it. Drag across the waveform to highlight the section, or type exact start and end times into the selection boxes.
- Keep it or remove it. Click Trim to keep only your selection, or Cut to delete it and join the rest.
- Tidy the edges. Add a short Fade in and Fade out so the cut starts and ends cleanly with no click.
- Download. Export as MP3 (320 kbps for music) or WAV.
Tip: To pull out a clean loop, start and end your selection on a beat. To remove just a bad section from the middle, select only that stretch and use Cut — the parts before and after stitch together seamlessly.
Frequently asked questions
How do I keep only the chorus?
Select the chorus on the waveform and click Trim. Everything outside your selection is removed, leaving just the chorus.
How do I remove the intro of a song?
Select from the very start to where the intro ends, then click Cut. The song now begins right after the intro.
Will cutting reduce the audio quality?
No — trimming keeps the original samples. Export at 320 kbps MP3 or WAV to preserve full quality.
Can I undo a cut?
Yes. Undo steps back through your edits, and Reset restores the original file.
